Note: Figurines has the same meaning in both French and English. Guirlandes is French for garlands. Because garlands are a circular or spiral arrangement of intertwined material, the meaning would not just encompass flowers or leaves for which it is most commonly used and as seen on this box, but also things like tinsel wrapped around a Christmas tree.

Also Note: In 1929 and 1930 Lalique created 2 boxes for the perfumer Marcas et Dardel that were the same basic shape and size, and had similar designs. This box, having been created a year after the crash in October 1930, is by far the rarer of the 2 boxes today. The 1929 box is Figurines et Voiles. Both boxes were commercialized and sold directly by Maison Lalique starting in 1935.
