Note: Clairvaux is a village in the former Champagne-Ardenne region of northeastern France that is now part of the Grand Est region. It's a sparsely populated agricultural area. The village was founded in the early 1100's by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux and it became the center of the Order of Cistercians usually just called the Cistercians or the Cistercian order. The 12th century abbey is in ruins, but parts still exist having been incorporated into a later monastery. The abbey has been a listed historical monument in France for nearly 100 years.

Also Note: The bowl is known in 1 height of approximately 22 cm.

Also Note: In early January 1926 Lalique created 2 footed bowls. The form of the 2 bowls is Coupe sur pied or bowl on foot. Think of them as large champagne glasses or large coupes à champagne. In addition to this bowl, the 2nd one was the approximately 17.5 cm tall by 20 cm wide Saint-Denis Bowl.

Also Note: After the death of Rene Lalique, and sometime after 1955, Cristal Lalique introduced Model No. 12254 Vase Clairvaux. The stem design is close to this model R. Lalique Bowl but the top section is narrower and taller making the modern crystal vase over 24 cm tall. We have it in the modern repro section even though it is not an exact reproduction.
