Note: Wingen-sur-Moder (Wingen) is a town in eastern France in the upper valley of the Moder River. It's where Lalique opened his large glass factory in 1921. The factory remains in operation to this day, having become a crystal factory after the war. Wingen is also the location of the Musée Lalique, a Musée De France that opened in 2011. The first recorded mention of Wingen was in the early 700's, so the place has a long history. The town was devastated by the Plaque in the 1600's. And more recently, in January 1945 virtually every building in the town was damaged in house-to-house fighting between the German 6th SS Mountain Division and forward elements of the U.S. Seventh Army.
