Note: Pavot is French for poppy. Toupie is French for spinning top.

Also Note: In 1929 Lalique created 3 different spinning tops. In addition to this concave Pavot Spinning Top, there is a convex Pavot Spinning Top, and a Marguerite Spinning Top.

Also Note: The modern Lalique company reproduced the Marguerite Spinning top in many colors. And they reproduced the original presentation case including with the R. Lalique Paris France monogram in the oval in the cloth lining underneath the lid. The modern copy of the box and the Marguerite Toupie are found using the reproduction link below. We have not seen modern Pavot Toupie copies but that doesn't mean they aren't out there, we just don't know.

Also Note: Compare the design on this spinning top to the design of the Montigny Bowl that was created 5 months earlier in November of 1928, and also to the design of the Pavot Candleholder.
