Note: Normandie is the name of a region in France. It's the place where over 150,000 American, Canadian, and British troops landed in force and under fire on June 6th, 1944 AKA D-Day. Less than a year later on May 8th, 1945 the war in Europe was over.

Also Note: This design also exists with 8 protruding elements (not yet in the catalogue) and as a sconce.

Also Note: For Lalique, his work on Normandie lighting fixtures in 1935 must have inspired him to create more of the larger Art Deco lighting designs. In addition to the 2 Normandie chandelier models, there were a dozen more chandeliers, all of which moved away from previous Art Nouveau creations, and plunged full speed ahead into the modernistic, more rectangular Art Deco style. The decorations on the chandeliers in 1935 were much more consistently stylistic instead of naturalistic. There were some hints in a couple of models from 1929 and 1930 that a new style might be on the horizon at some point, but in just the single year of 1935, he went all-in. If you start from page 651 of the 2011 Catalogue Raisonne and work your way to the newer model numbers, you'll see it for yourself.
