SWATCH confirmed directly to us after researching the ATO Archives at our request, that there is no document in the ATO Archives connecting René Lalique to the Normandie Clock. This is the entire lot description verbatim from the auction house: "Rene Lalique and Léon Hatot for ATO, an opalescent glass Normandie clock, designed circa 1935, the central ocean liner and gilt backed sunray design within a chapter ring of Arabic numerals, on a rustic wave base, moulded marks ATO Made in France, 15cm high Note: the clock was commissioned for the maiden trans Atlantic voyage of the Art Deco ocean liner SS Normandie in 1935, for which Lalique also produced a wine service, and was available in two versions. Rene Lalique's collaboration with the French clock company ATO, founded by Léon Hatot, is documented in the ATO archives and confirmed by Hatot's relatives."
