Note: Logelbach is a district in France that is composed of parts of Colmar, Ingersheim, Turckheim, and Wintzenheim. It's about a 5-hour drive or about 235 crow flies miles east from Paris. And it's around an hour drive south of Strasbourg. The district is named after the Logelbach Canal that was built in the 1700's by diverting some flow from the Fecht River to supply water to the ditches around the ramparts of Colmar. The canal was later used for irrigation and for significant mill operations that sprung up in the area in the last quarter of the 18th century. For that reason the canal is also known by the German word Mühlbach, that literally means millstream. Here are some great canal photos.
