Note: The original earlier 1908 version of this bottle with a faceted ball shaped stopper was made by Baccarat with the front decoration being an R. Lalique applied frosted glass plaque. On this later 1911 Lalique version the same front design is molded as part of the bottle instead of being an applied plaque, and Lalique's 2 cicadas stopper is entirely different from the 1908 Baccarat stopper. This bottle represents a holdover in shape and design from the Art Nouveau era at a time when cleaner lines and simplicity were starting to take hold foretelling the dominance of Art Deco by the roaring 20's.

Also Note: This bottle has appeared signed only for LALIQUE in the mold near the bottom right of the plaque, signed LALIQUE in the mold just above L'EFFLEURT DE COTY near the bottom right of the plaque, and signed only L'EFFLEURT DE COTY on the bottom of the plaque without any Lalique signature. Bottles missing the molded Lalique signature should be avoided as they are copies contracted out by Coty to other glassmakers, or made in crystal by Coty after he opened his own crystalworks.
