Rene Lalique Camees Vase: Rare 25.5 cm R Lalique Vase featuring a design of molded medallions (Camees in French means Cameos) containing cherubs and female figures all around the vase. Molded R. Lalique in relief boldly on the side of the vase, and also engraved on the underside with the model number. This vase model was a technical achievement in the early 1920's having been made in two parts due to the limitations of the technology of the day. The vase was press molded upside down, and the base was applied separately while the glass was hot. Because of this process, there are many times internal shiny spots on this model where the disk shaped base was applied to the vase. This vase has a 1.5 cm internal vertical line that cannot be felt from the outside of the vase, coming up from base. It is likely a short internal stress or crack line. There is no bruising on the side or bottom of the vase in the area of the line. Additional photo below shows the line in the center of the photo coming up from the base. Note this vase was taken off the market and is no longer for sale. Model No. 891.
