Note: The origin of the name of this vase almost has to be the chivalric romance tale Tristan and Isolde, a 900 year old story that has been re-told with many variations over time. The basic plot is a tragedy involving the Cornish knight Tristan (also Tristam and others) and an Irish princess Iseult (also Yseult, Isolde, and others). Though this story predates the legend of King Arthur, elements of Arthur's story are incorporated into many of this story's later variations. The tale was well known in Lalique's time and is the subject of numerous paintings contemporary to Lalique. Here is a link to a contemporary period painting Yseult la blonde by the French Symbolist Gaston Bussière. And more extensive is Herbert James Draper's 1901 painting Tristan and Isolde.
