Also Note: This vase is widely reported to have originally been a special commission for the Marquise de Sévigné chocolatier and many examples have appeared signed both R. Lalique France and Marquise de Sévigné - Paris. The company website relates Royat to the owners of the chocolatier as follows: In 1892, a young couple originally from Royat, in Auvergne, full of energy and wisdom, bought a tiny local factory, the “Chocolaterie of Royat”.
