Rene Lalique Machine Age Brooch: 6.9 cm wide octagonal steel and aluminum frame supporting declining and alternating openwork squares with beaded highlights all surrounding a single central pearl R. Lalique Brooch. Lot No. 201 Est: $20,000 - $30,000. Model: Brooch-158 Circa 1911. Note: This brooch was exhibited at the Cleveland Museum of Art Exhibition "Artistic Luxury: Faberge, Tiffany, Lalique" in 2009. Another brooch of this model was part of the Goldsmith Company Exhibition "The Jewellery of René Lalique" in 1987 as is shown in the book of the exhibtion edited by Vivienne Becker on Page 132. Becker discusses the influence of Deutscher Werkbund designers from Munich exhibiting in Paris in 1910 at the Salon d'Automne and the inspiration that exhibition must have had on Lalique in the creation of this atypical design.
