Note: La Sirène is French for the mermaid or siren. It refers to the name of the fragrance for which Burmann acquired the bottle, and also describes the decorative motif of the bottle itself.

Also Note: You can read about sirènes on the Sirène Car Mascot Page.

Also Note: This bottle is known in 1 height of approximately 10.5 cm.

Also Note: There are two versions of the bottle each with a different Siren figure in the middle but with the same 4-fish stopper design. This model is the smaller of the two and is just over half the size of the larger La Sirene Perfume Bottle.

Also Note: The larger version bottle, but with a completely different stopper from the 1912 time period that was used on the Nouvelles Galeries Eau De Cologne Aux Roses Fraîches Bottle was sold at the dispersal of the Marie Claude Lalique collection. It's listed separately as a Maison Lalique La Sirene Perfume Bottle. We don't know if the Nouvelles Galeries stopper originally was designed for La Sirène (a thought given the coincident time frame and the owner of the bottle it appeared on), or if it was just a later replacement on her bottle only. Of course, the argument for the 4-fish stopper is that it comports with the underwater design of La Sirène and it has a general size and scope relative to the container that is roughly similar to other stoppers Lalique created in the same period including Orielles Lezards and Orielles Epines.

Also Note: The design of these bottles dates to 1912, but Burmann's use of the bottles did not occur until the mid-1930's.
