And they have a Lot 109 Honfleur Bowl titled for René Lalique assumedly because according to their description it bears the wheel-cut signature R. LALIQUE FRANCE. The signature notwithstanding, that bowl is Cristal Lalique Model No. 11025 and we have Lalique documentation stating that bowl model is by Marc Lalique. The auction listing does not have an R. Lalique model number for the bowl because there isn't one. This is not the first time we have seen this bowl with the signature the auction house describes, but the signature does not change the facts. Also note that Cristal Lalique Model No. 11025 appears in the 1955 Cristal Lalique Catalogue in model number numerical order after several other well known post-war Marc Lalique designs. The bowl obviously does not appear in the 2011 R. Lalique Catalogue Raisonne, and it does not appear in the bowl section of this website. Last piece of info: Cristal Lalique also made a miniature version of the Honfleur Bowl as a Honfleur Ashtray. Our Lalique company documentation dates the ashtray to 1954. In any event we recommend to typical collectors not to buy undocumented pieces. Here we have a bowl that is documented, but not as R. Lalique. As such, Lot 109 should be avoided.
