Also Note: In 1929 Lalique created 5 similarly formed vase models that mimic containers used in growing tulips. The shape of the vase would enable the bulb to stay dry while the roots stayed wet. And the shape of the decorative upper section would protect the bulb. The other 4 tulip vases are Breda, Helder, Rotterdam and Utrech.

Also Note: The 5 vases are all named after cities in the Netherlands, where the tulip price bubble burst in 1637.
