Note: In Greek mythology Althea was the Queen of Calydon. She is well known because of an involved drama where she and her son Meleager were the cause of each other's deaths. No doubt René Lalique would have been familiar with story.

Also Note: The Utts documented this bottle in the year 2001 Addendum to their seminal 1986 book Lalique Perfume Bottles as being known in 2 heights. An unsigned 7.6 cm example was included in the dispersal sale of the Utt collection in December 1998 in New York City. The other documented size is 12 cm. We show both sizes on this page.

Also Note: The stopper for this bottle is the same stopper for the Fleur bottle created the same year, and also for the Volnay Violette bottle that was assembled 16 years later.
