Note: Albert is a town in Northern France about a 2-hour drive north-northeast of Paris. The population is around 10,000 (2016) and it's maybe half an hour drive from Amiens. Albert is well known as the site of intense fighting during WW I and for the landmark Basilica of Notre-Dame de Brebières. The Golden Virgin statue that tops the church spire lay near horizontal for over 3 years after being hit by a shell during the fighting. You can see what the town and the church looked like in 1918 in this photo showing the destruction. Albert was eventually rebuilt after the war with both the church and the famous statue being reconstructed faithfully from the original plans. See The Entire Catalogue Of: Rene Lalique Vases
